چکیده

Abstract The processing of bauxite ore into aluminium produces a large amount waste materials. Red mud as from the alumina industry is problem that damages hydrological function soil. can still be utilised according to its composition and characteristics. In this study, red originating Tanjungpinang characterised using several techniques (Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX), Diffraction (XRD), Adsorption desorption nitrogen. XRD characterisation results for all samples tested, namely bmd1, bsg1, bsg2, bsg3, have relatively uniform phases: boehmite, Gibbsite, Nepheline, Calcite, Hematite, Quartz. SEM-EDX test obtained data on highest Al content found in bsg3 with weight 7.2%. nitrogen has surface area 62,423 m 2 /g. With characteristics washing, material various fields.

lndustrial Lubricants, Cleaning Processes and Waste Minimization

Lubricant selection and cleaner chemistry is oftentimes one of the most overlooked parts of industrial metal processing. Their selection can affect not only the ability to adequately clean parts; it can also potentially affect the success of a waste minimization effort to recycle the cleaner. Certain lubricants are more compatible with certain cleaning processes than others. This paper will dis...

Cleaning of Municipal Waste Incinerator Flue Gas in Europe

The paper discusses the various methods used in Europe to reduce emissions of pollutants from the stack gases of municipal incinerators. With respect to NOx, the paper mentions two experimental postcombustion control approaches involving the addition of chemicals to the wet-scrubber system to oxidize or reduce the NOx to absorbable NO 2 or dischargeable N 2. As pointed out , these methods would...

Characterisation of isolates of Haemophilus paragallinarum from Indonesia.

OBJECTIVE To characterise 18 isolates of Haemophilus paragallinarum isolated from chickens in Indonesia. PROCEDURE The isolates were identified to species level by traditional phenotypic methods. Six of the isolates were also identified by a species-specific polymerase chain reaction. Fourteen of the isolates were examined for resistance to a panel of seven antimicrobial agents using a disc d...

Synthesis and characterisation of hydrotalcite from bauxite residue liquor and magnesium nitrate

Introduction The extraction of alumina from bauxite by the Bayer process produces a slurry by-product referred to as ‘bauxite residue’ or ‘red mud’. The liquid component of the slurry is highly alkaline and requires neutralisation to render it environmentally benign. A common practice is neutralisation using Mg rich seawater, which results in the formation of the layered double hydroxide (LDH) ...

Palm Oil and Palm Waste Potential in Indonesia

The expansion of oil palm cultivation in Indonesia has been driven by a strong world demand for food especially fats and oils. Commencing in the island of Sumatra, it spread out to other island like Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Irian but not to the island of Bali which was already well developed. The role of palm oil in developing remote inland regions and improving the standard of living of rural ...
